Pc won’t post

I have obtained an older pc from a family member, but it doesn’t post. When I turn it on all the fans spin and the lights go on but I never get a post.  
specs

- mobo asus m5a97 r2.0 

- gpu HD6450 1g ddr3

- cpu and fix-6300 

- 500w power supply 

- hyperX fury 4gb 1600mhz ddr3 

- 1 tb hard drive 

 

I have a suspicion that the gpu is dead but I could easily be wrong

 

any information would be much appreciated

have you done any diagnostic steps on the machine yet?

Make sure you are plugging into the gpu 

Try unplugging the gpu and seeing if it will go to the bios from the cpu  - I am not sure if that one has on board graphics 

 

When you say it wont post do you mean to windows or the bios?

this is the gpu and as far as I know there is no plug that needs to go into it

 

and unfortunately there is no onboard graphics 

 

and it won’t go to the bios

There is a speaker but I don’t know how to activate it

If you are getting beeps, that should tell a story.

The speaker is on the motherboard but I never could get a beep out of it
