Hey guys!

So I've been having some trouble with USB-Switches on my Windows 10 machine. I've been searching for a fix for a long time now and I still couldn't find one.

Since it is really annoying, I am now coming to my favorite youtubers forum.

Describing the problem:

I've had this with 3 different kinds of USB-Switches now, one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 and also one (Monitor integrated) KVM-Switch.

When I switch a couple of times between my Windows, Linux and Raspberry, my Windows machine suddenly stops wanting to use my keyboard and mouse attached to the switch, while the Linux and Raspberry dont seem to develop this issue.

The LEDs still light up, but no key pressing on either keyboard or mouse will work.

The issue also still persists when I unplug the switch from every device (removing power from the switch) and reconnect it only to the Windows machine.

As soon as this error occurs any keyboard I plug into my machine, no matter in which port, will not work.

The only fix to this issue is to restart my PC and jump into the Bios. After I get out of the Bios the problem no longer occurs, the keyboard connected to the switch and the basic keyboard plugged into a random USB Port will then work fine.

If i don't hop into the Bios at restart the issue will still continue to persist after booting.

What I've tried to fix this issue:

- Like I already wrote in "Describing the problem", the same issue comes up with any USB 3.0-, USB 2.0- or even KVM-Switches

- I've turned of all power saving features in the Bios, system settings and device manager (for keyboards, mice and usb(-root)-hubs), I also have tried all USB Ports including 2.0 and 3.0 Ports, front and back

- I didn't count how many times I've reinstalled drivers (Keyboard-, Mice-, and Switch-Drivers)

- Unplugging any USB device except the Switch with keyboard and mouse connected to it

My System:

- MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi ATX Intel S1200

- Intel i7-10700KF

- MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G

Peripherals:

- Roccat Horde Aimo

- Roccat Kova Aimo

Switches:

- Rybozen USB 2.0 Switch

- JideTech USB Switch 3.0

- KVM integrated in Gigabyte M27F

I would be really relieved if someone has a fix for this Issue, since it is really depressing to always having to restart my machine when this error occurs.

With best regards,

InevitableKronos
