dwm.exe high gpu usage

Laptop: Legion 5i (GTX 1650)

The dextop window manager has a very high gpu usage (50%-90%). This problem started today and has made my laptop laggy. I'm even getting frame drops in games. In games which gave me  around 80fps are now having drops to 30fps. Yes optimus is on but on turning optimus off there is no problem. Since I'm a student battery life is important for me. Does anyone have any workaround for this issue. Changing priority of dwm.exe didn't help.

The desktop windows manager is a process which is related to rendering the gui of your pc's os, which is windows.
