Quick Question regarding GPU upgrade.

Go to solution Solved by Paralectic,

I'm using an EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked with 1 6-pin.

And yes you can use a molex adapter too if it needs 2 6-pins.

Hey everyone! The time has finally come that I'm able to ditch my dying HD 6770 with a new card. I'm on a strict ~$200 budget and looking at either the 260x or the 660. After looking around online, it looks like the 660 is overall a better choice which raises my question. My current power supply is a Cooler Master 525w with a single 6pin power. The 660 requires 2 6pin. Would it be safe to run it with the one 6pin along with the molex adapter until I'm able to pick up a new power supply?

wait... 260x's are $200?!?! WHAT!?!?!

Go for a 270X if you can find one for $200 or go for the 660, but it is a last gen card and I have heard on a few forums that Nvidia won't be upgrading the 600 series to support Dx12.

At Canada Computers the 260x is around 170 before tax. 270's start at $240. I know the usual answer is shop around online for a deal, but it's my boss getting it for me for work and she's picking it up tomorrow morning. Thanks for the speedy responses everyone :)
