The compatibility issues is “Some Z390 boards require bios updates to support 32GB modules”

Just update your bios and you are good, in fact there is a pretty decent chance it will work without even updating bios

As for what kit to use, I would just get a 3200mhz kit like this one https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RjK2FT/team-t-force-vulcan-z-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-tlzgd464g3200hc16cdc01

I would suggest buying 4x16 instead of 2x32gb.

what memory are you upgrading from

32GB (8GBx4) DDR4/3200MHz Dual Channel Memory (Team T-Force Delta RGB).  This was my first computer so it was prebuilt so oddly enough the bill says 16(8x2) but in my case i have 4 so im assuming its at the (8x4)

@SupaKomputa it doesnt say the memory is the issue, it says that the motherboard might require a bios update, Im new to computer building and optimizing so im unsure what this all means.

Here is the latest bios
https://download.asrock.com/BIOS/1151/Z390 Steel Legend(1.30)WIN.zip

Here is the update instructions:
https://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=Windows11

It’s only a few steps

So you have 32gb already? Do you need 64gb?

I would get 16gb since it's widely supported.

32gb modules is still new, it may not work even with bios update.

im merely assuming i have 32 because i only paid for the memory sticks at 8x2 but i have 4 in my case. for all i know its less than 32.

i was hoping to just do two 32Gbx2 or 16Gbx4. im not sure if two card is better or 4 card is better.

If you already have 8x2 I would go for another 8x2 kit or may 16x2 kit, 80 gigabytes of ram is really overkill, 32 or 48 make more sense.

quick way to check is to right click the taskbar, open task manager, and click the performance tab. It will list the amount of RAM on the left side of the window>

How much ram do you already have?

It can also be 4x4gb, you can check the capacity in task manager.

For general usage, you don't need 64gb memory, it won't make your pc any faster.

so if i keep the 32gb should i try and switch out something else then? because my computer gets rather choppy sometimes especially during apex legends.

RAM will not increase your gaming performance. Even if you just had 16 right now, it would not help adding more.

What is your CPU and graphics card, again, you can check that in task manager.

That’s odd, you have a pretty fast computer, Apex shouldn’t be struggling. You might want to reinstall Apex and if that doesnt work reisntall windows

question, if my cpu usage is getting above like 65% typically should i change the cpu? this is especially happening during apex, i have no issues with it during any other games.

If all of the CPU stress is coming from apex under task manager then yes, but usually apex is not that cpu intensive on a 9900k.
