Hi everybody.

I am currently using a i5 7500 with a gtx 1070 turns out in most games that it is kneecapping the gpu at around 70% which is less than ideal. I was thinking the best option for price for performance is the ryzen 3600 with ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F with the hope of one day getting an rtx 3070. Is this a good upgrade path or will it bottleneck the 3070?

Also would it be ideal to upgrade the corsair vs450 I've heard mixed reviews on this PSU it worked fine for the last 4 years (except the mustard and ketchup wires)?

Thank you for any responses.

If you are in the U.S then I would not recommend the 3600. It is way too overpriced. A 11400f/10400f with a B560 board and 3200MHZ RAM would be better.

I think AM4 is nearing EOL. Personally, I'd just try waiting just a bit longer if possible then hop on the train for whatever the new socket is.

This applies for b560/b460 too.

New socket for both intel/amd will come in late 2021/early 2022 with ddr5

the current socket for AMD is the AM4, dont be surprised when they announce the AM5 socket later this year, next year or whenever they announce it. the current socket for intel is the LGA1200 which was first used for the 10th gen and now 11th gen CPUs so i can see it lasting probablyt until the 13th or 14th gen.

neither one should cause a bottleneck with the 3070 or even 40 series cards when they are released but your issue is going to be that PSU, its underpowered for handleing a 30 series card. i have a i7 8700k, msi z370, 2070 super and 1 HDD, EVGAs power meter is saying i am taking 475 and reccomending a PSU with at least 500 but this limits you to what you can have or add. try it for yourself. EVGA - Power Meter
