GPU for Computer build

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 
Motherboard: ASUS X570 ROG Crosshair VII Dark Hero

CPU: AMD 5600x

GPU: 3080 Rog Strix / 6900 xt Red Devil

RAM: 32gb Corsair Dominator 36000

PSU: Silverstone sfx-l 1000W

Storage: 1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2

Case: Lian Li O11D Mini

Cooling: Lian Li Galahad 240mm + Corsair LL120 fans

 

I haven't built a PC in a few years but I've been fortunate the past few years and decided I wanted to splurge on myself a bit. I've secured all the parts but one and it's the GPU. I have a friend that said he could offer me either a 3080 rog strix or 6900xt red devil depending on what I want. Is there any huge difference between the two or should I go with one over the other?

Looks good, BUT why a midrange cpu with a high-end GPU? It will work, it just doesn t make sense to me. With that budget, you might be able to snag a GPU even above MSRP. I would use the Nvidia GPU because 1. it is cheaper and 2. because I think because they have better drivers. I could be wrong about the GPU, this is just my opinion. Is this your 1st build?

Fair point the Processor was mostly because I was having trouble securing a higher end one and a friend told me the 5600x was comparable in performance to the higher ones at least for gaming.

 

Edit: It's my first build in about 10 years. I did have a razor laptop for some light gaming, but it hasn't aged well with the current games.

For gaming, yes. But for other multithreaded workloads, you should get a 5800x or a 5900x. Intel equivalents; i7-11700k or i9-10900k (more cores than 11900k)

Thank you for the feedback! I'll look around and see if I can get my hands on a 5800x/5900x and if I can I'll return this one since I haven't even opened it as of yet.

If you cant find a 5800x or 5900x, the 5600x will be fine, but the 8 core or 12 core CPU will be leaps and bounds better in multithreaded workloads.

Efficiency is platinum. actual name of the PSU is Silverstone Sx1000 Platinum. Honestly the reviews on it are a little spotty. Some said it had fan issues with version 1.0 but have since released version 1.1 and the issue appears to be resolved.

If you arent sure about it, use this power supply: Corsair  80+ Gold 1000w

Oh. I just trust EVGA and Corsair power supplies best. Havent heard much about Silverstone.
