I bought an SSD about a year ago, and I was on a super tight budget.

It cost me $55, its a Silicon Power 256GB A55.

It is DRAMless, and that is the point of this topic; How scary/bad is it that its DRAMless?

Did I waste $55 or is it still a very good upgrade over a 7200rpm HDD?

Used for OS Boot and 2 games.

It's a hell of an upgrade over a 7200 HDD.  Yes, it isn't as perfect as a DRAM SSD but it will perform very well for booting and a couple games.

You made a good purchase.

It's def a good purchase... for that price. I got an Adata su750 over the summer, also a dram-less version, 500gb, for $35 used. It's slower than my new 1tb Hynix with dram but dram-less ssds pose no immediate threat of exploding and corrupting your data or anything. The chance of that happening is very low.

Way faster than a mechanical HDD, but its not really what I expected.

Although I expected it, im running SATA2 and not SATA3.
