windows internet links not working

so, my problem is that the hyperlinks on my desktop dont work. they dont work since i reinstalled windows quite some time ago. it doesnt matter how i create them.

i use SRWare Iron, an chrome fork.

they links show up with .url on my desktop whcih is untypical.

when i double-click them my browser shows me:

when i drag&drop them in my browser, they open normally.

also the icon changed.

im used to only the chrome/iron logo as a link logo or the website favicon, but now its kinda a worksheet with the chrome/iron logo on it.

 

any ideas how to fix this?

 

my idea is that chrome doesnt "process" the file and only shows me the sourcecode.

right click on one url file and associate it with chrome (in windows 8 for example right click, go to open with and choose default program)
