memory Upgrading Pre-build

Hey, I am kinda new to the PC building world. Anything I know about PC's is stuff I learned from the last 4 years worth of Linus' videos.

I am looking into upgrading my pre-builts memory and was wondering what the best (kinda cheap) RAM I could get was. I'm currently looking at 2x8GB sticks and was looking at Crucial and HyperX Fury. I was wondering if there was any config I should know about and does anyone have any suggestions about other brands of RAM.

Any help is great.

Well before you upgrade, ask can you upgrade. Some prebuilts have issues with ram speed, often going with the slowest compatible memory config.

 

A lot of us here are capable of leading you in the right direction, so make sure to put your specs and model in your original post, as thats the deciding factor.

Without knowing that, I can’t even recommend DDR3 ram or DDR4 ram.

What we need is motherboard, PSU, and CPU. Or just the name of the prebuilt.

DDR3 or DDR4? What motherboard or CPU?

I have checked all documents I got with the PC and there is no information about the motherboard. All I know is it is HP branded. I am going to do some more research into the motherboard model.
