Hello everyone,

I know i may get some abuse, but I am very new to PC building and decided to have a PC to game on as well as a PS4.

I have been on a very tight budget and can only afford second hand parts at this time.

My PC is made up of the following...

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K

GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970

RAM: 1x8gb Integral, 1x2gb Integral

SSD: Samsung EVO 870 1tb

500W Power supply

My current performance is...

GTA V (1080p, high = 30-50fps) (1080p, Normal = 40-70fps)

Rocket League (1440p, Highest = 70-90fps) (1080p, highest = 90-120fps)

Call of duty Warzone and Cold War (1060x900, medium = 40-60fps)

I want to look at increasing this piece by piece but im unsure what will have the biggest impact. My motherboard only has sata 2 so i figured this could be 1 thing holding me back (a little). Im looking to upgrade to a lga1200 motherboard, DDR4, and possibly intel core i3-10100f.

would this be a good swap, I feel that my GPU is being held back looking at other builds. My CPU would run at 80+% whilst I play GTA V.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Please don't hate me for a cheap build!

Nope. Nothing wrong in asking dumb questions.

I can tell that its normal fps for that combination. But a CPU swap would mean youll need to change the RAM as well. By that point i would just consider a new build altogether.

Honestly, your biggest bottleneck currently is the mismatched ram stick size.

Thanks for the reply!

Annoyingly I can't afford to purchase a whole new build 😫.  I can only do it in stages every few months haha. It plays the main games I like to play. I just want to make small steps to improve it.

But I do understand the cost is practically a whole new PC by that point.

No going to lie here, I didn't know the RAM size would even make a difference 🙈

I am new to the PC world! But it is better than console so far!

I do plan on getting a second 8gb stick soon though!
