Yeah I do. I just don't have money to replace anything if I shock it to death xD The table is plastic and wood. I am paranoid!

EDIT: As long as my power strip has a ground/is plugged into a grounded outlet my esd strap is grounded, right?

Ah ok, so you didn't mean literally taking components out on carpet. Yes a grounded plug in a grounded power strip in a grounded outlet should be grounded. An ESD strap isn't so much about absolute ground really. It's to put you on the same potential as what you are working with.

I've got a plastic mat on my medium pile carpet. My apartment only has carpet, but I have an esd bracelet. am I good if I ground on a plugged in/turned off PSU?

I have to take parts out of a pc on the carpet and put some of them in my new build. I feel like I should take the psu from my old pc and then ground via the esd bracelet and I should be good. Is that accurate?

Should be. For actual ground ground the socket it's plugged into will also need to be grounded of course.
