Budget (including currency): 2400$

Country: Switzerland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, Workstation

Other details Managed to buy a RTX 3070, so decided it is time to upgrade.

I have most of my build together, but would appreciate any input https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XvBQvf

Some notes on things I am still deciding:

  • CPU: While I would prefer getting a 5900x, due to availability will be going for a 5800x.
  • Cooler: Here I am unsure, whether to go with Air (NH-D15) or if to look more into liquid coolers (Arctic Liquid Freezer II lookg very interesting to me).
  • Motherboard: Was going to go with the Asus ROG B550-F but due to the lack of a USB-C header, now looking at the MSI B550 Gaming Edge (but have considered the ROG B550-E, and the Gaming Carbon) - are there any other alternative I should look at. (Will need WiFi)
  • Ram: Trident Z neo 3600 2x16GB CL16 pretty happy with this choice, a lot of the alternatives are hard to find in Switzerland.
  • Storage: Will be salvaging some drives from my old build, but looking at getting a main PCI 4.0 M.2, currently undecided between the 980 pro and the MP600

Any help is much appreciated.

Arctic freezer ii 240-360 or Lian Li Galahad (arctic freezer ii now comes with 6 years warranty, tch... but there fans are a hit or miss even the ones which come with AIO.

If it sits in ur budget u can go with Noctua NF-A12 on the radiator of freezer. And see if u have enough vertical ram clearance if ur going with arctic bcuz arctic's radiator is bigger than others.)

Personally I would go with an X570 motherboard as I believe many B550s only support 1 Gen 4 SSD, but other than that great build and congrats on getting an Ampere gpu!

Big nerd.

Might be a bit overkill, but looking for something that will last me a long time.

And thanks for the cooler recommendation, the Liquid Freezer definetly looks interesting.

Why two different pcie 4.0 SSD's ? Better going with a single 2TB. A Sabrent Rocket 2TB pcie 4.0 should be cheaper overall. In any case that board only has 1 x pcie 4.0 M.2 slot. If you are set on getting 2 x pcie 4.0 SSD's then go with something like the X570 Tomahawk.

Not much point getting RGB Ram if you are going with a non windowed case.

That psu is a waste of money. A Gold rated unit will be a lot cheaper i.e A Corsair RMx/RMi or similar.

Sorry my wording should have been clearer. Was looking at getting one of the two, but havent decided yet which one I will be getting.

Based in Switzerland, so no international ones, instead something like digitec.ch

The WD Black SN850 1TB seems to be the cheapest pcie 4.0 SSD on that site. It is a solid SSD.

Or if you want one with a heatsink the Corsair MP600 Pro is also good. There is also a version of the SN850 on there with a heatsink.
