So today I got arma 3 from a friend and I am having some major issues. I am getting very low fps 20-30 fps on ultra high and low. I don't see how it is possible that I am getting the same fps at ultra and in Low. When I run the game I notice that only 4 out of 8 cores are actually running the game and those 4 cores are only at half usage. I have the FX-8350 and the GIgabyte 7970 ghz . Is there any fix for this issue?

So you mean that a top of the line amd CPU can't run Arma 3 at 30+ fps even on lowest settings? @kuzimins

Arma 3 depends on single core, and because amd is bad at that stuff (they have more but less powerful cores) and intel rocks (more powerful cores but less of them).

Its just a badly optimized game. Your fps actually isnt that bad for that game.

I don't always have time to study, but when I do, I don't.

If that is not bad than what is the average fps that people should be getting in this game? @kuzimins

ARMA 3 runs fine on AMD CPUs. I have an FX 6350 overclocked to 5GHz and I run 60fps in singleplayer. Multiplayer however, runs like crap on every type of cpu, it is entirely dependent upon the server and your internet connection.

Your explanation seems to be a little off.

what others are saying is likely to be bull.

while i havent benchmarked it yet at 1080p with my sig rig i get around 45 (or so) fps on the top sceneraio where you walk through the valley with everything maxed out.

it evenly uses 4 cores so its not cpu limited, to be sure i would go into windows task manager and assign cores 2+3, 4_5, 6+7 to run arma 3, or if that still doesnt work just try the latter 4 cores (2 modules)

a piledriver core is more powerful than a phenom core and from experiance ive noticed no benefit to cpu overclocking as yet.

what I have noticed as many other have is that arma 3 is a pig to run on equal footing it seems as crysis 3. (going by web reviews)

if you like do a 180sec fraps runthrough on a given setting on the "valley" scenario (where a guy gets shot you have to assault a town and then find the spotters) start the fraps run from where matey gets hit,

monitor cpu and gpu usage in task manager and msi afterburner and post back here.

Off Topic: What cooler and voltage do you use in your overclock? I'm using stock cooler and stock voltage and the max 'stable' overclock I can achieve is 4.19~4.2GHz. (I'm quite a noob at overclocking).

On topic: I have similar issues with Arma 3. I get 40-60fps on single player (however it is jumpy), however, on muliplayer, I would be impressed to hold a steady 30 frames. I average 15 fps on most multiplayer servers.

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

get way higher if i just use very high settings, ultra kills it.
maybe do the usually driver checks (typical go-to answer) but see what benefits you can from module asigning although its most likely a game issue, most games i come across seem to be limited by the game engine/api before my cpu or card even (especially) simcity.

edit: just run it on high (or very high, second one from top) at 2.5ghz and the gpu hovers around 80% and the cpu around 65% and i get around 28(min)-40fps, very playable, bit gutted it doesnt fully use the gpu though.

Sure m8, now go and play some multiplayer servers with >40 players, and get 45 fps. It just wont happen.
