XFORMA MKII - Build log

Hello everyone, So its about time I replace my aging Silverstone TJ07 (bought it late 2012). I've looked extremely hard to find a Silverstone TJ11 and ended up with nothing, I've also debated powder coating my current 07 and just stick with it again.

 

 

This time however I decided to bite the $1500 bullet and bought the XFORMA MKII... 

 

TITANRIGS.COM still carries them, but at a limited amount. So if you are interested in being part of history and owning 1 of 140, you should check them out right away. 

 

I will include a table of contents as more parts arrive, but for now most of the first few posts will be about the chassis. This build will of course be watercooled, and I will most likely use hard metal piping or possibly experiment with braided AN lines and fittings for this build, similar to what they use on race cars. 

 

 

 

 

Here is the humongous 51lbs box that arrived this afternoon.

dust filters were even included for the side panels, when Silverstone never included them with the 07! a nice touch.

insane amount of radiator and pump mounting holes in the bottom basement of the case, also if you noticed, everything is sleeved and BLACK!

I was feeling a bit nostalgic, so I decided to whip out some old hardware for me to test fit inside.

Bought a ryzen 9 3950x and an ASUS Crosshair VIII Formula board, temporarily using that x series corsair cpu block for now.

I MANAGED TO SNAG THE ONLY 5950X at Microcenter today!!!! returned my 3950x for that instead! Was only 100 dollars more at 799.

Small update as of 4/19/2021

 

Just ordered a few more goodies, will hopefully arrive sometime this week. I will upload more pictures and potentially some B-roll shots with my camera.

This is the case that made me crazy about PCs and one that will always be a holy grail in my head.

Also snagged a Powercoler Radeon RX6900XT Liquid Devil, comes with a very nice EK full cover RGB block pre installed.

EK plug kit, the allen key that's included is pretty cheap and brittle, but it is PC watercooling so it doesn't have to be torqued down that tightly. 

 

Also comes with an EK Dye kit which is pretty nice, will most likely not use this, but it is pretty cool.

How the case sits atm. 

 

Pretty straight forward cpu and block installation. Due to the current time crunch I am on and not being able to spend too much time on this build, I've opted to use my usual bitspower compression fittings and soft 3/8th inch tubing for the time being. Just to make this easier and quicker. I will go hard-line later in the future when I have more free time to dedicate to this project.
