CX500M enough?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

The cx500m is fine for that. It may get a bit noisy though.

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of making a build for a friend, it's pretty much done, but one thing I'm not 100% sure on is the PSU. The system uses an FX8320 and a 770 and he plans to mildly OC the CPU (around 4GHz) and the GPU as well. Now is the CX500M enough for this so it isn't reaching the peak wattage all the time and leaves room for smaller upgrades, or should I rather go with the CX600M? Now I don't want to go with a more expensive PSU if it isn't needed or strongly recommended, because he's on a budget which I went slightly over already, but he really doesn't want to go higher than that, only if it was really needed.

My rig: CPU: Intel core i5 4670K MoBo: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 2x4GB 1600mhz CL9 GPU: EVGA GTX780 SC ACX SSD: ADATA Premier Pro SP900 256GBHDD: Western Digital RED 2TB PSU: FSP Aurum CM 750W Case: Cooler Master HAF XM OS: Windows 8 Pro

If you are able to spend slightly more (approximately €5 depending on where you are able to buy from), the Cooler Master G550M would be a better unit with DC-DC. http://geizhals.eu/cooler-master-g550m-550w-atx-2-31-rs-550-amaa-b1-a1010360.html

or the non-modular Super Flower Golden Green HX 450w. http://geizhals.eu/super-flower-golden-green-hx-450w-atx-2-3-sf-450p14xe-hx-a1039307.html

Those cost a lot more here, Corsair CXM are the cheapest modular PSU's available here.

Are there any links are you able to provide me? Or it's a local store you are buying from?

He's getting the stuff from here: http://www.alza.cz/EN/. Frankly the english site lists the prices in CZK and he's buying in EUR, so always divide the price by 25 to get the real price.
