Hello. I'm usually not very active in here, but I ran into some interesting problems, some of you guys might help me with.

It's about an old UPS, DP7E Silcon.

I run a server, for the whole family to use. I've gotten myself an old UPS for free, with ton of batteries. The batteries, together, have way more capacity, when what followed. What I have found it's a 700VA (Cos(Ø)=0.7 (490W ish)). All the internal electrolytic capacitors are good and it charges the battery array just fine.

The problem I'm having is the Communication Protocol. I'm no IT-Expert so for some of you it may seem trivial 🙂 But it has a RS232 & DB25 port on it. It doesn't have an internal chip for protocol translation from the CPU (MC68HC711K4CFN3).

I use an Unraid Server as a playground for these kind of things and it feels like I've went through all the configs for UPS settings, without any luck.

I shot in the dark, but does any of you guys have any idea of what kind of protocol it runs? I'm starting to think that it doesn't run any standardize protocol. But hey, again, I'm basically an idiot regarding stuff like this. But I have to learn somehow xD

Thanks for reading and I hope you maybe can help me in my confusion 🙂

p.s. I've only tried the RS232 port (to USB), since I don't an adapter for the DB25.
