Inconsistent CPU temp readings

Hi everyone so I recently built up my new pc and I have been having issues with CPU temps ive removed all the variables at this point I returned my CPU for a new one, I got Arctic silver 5 thermal paste, and used the corsair h60 and have upgraded to the corsair h105.

 

My temps at idle in some programs show around 40 C and in the AMD Overdrive show 70C Thermal margin = 0C idle.

 

under 100% load in prime 95 the programs show about 67C and AMD Overdrive shows 49C Thermal margin =21C full load

 

My issue not only that my temps are inconsistent but that idle if it it around 40 is only 8C less then my stock cooler with stock thermal paste now that is still better but in very confused at this point I want it to be at 0C but that seems to cold but 40C seems to hot since AMD said it should be at only 38C idle with a stock cooler. Whats going on?

 

I have an AMD A8 6600k black edition 3.9 GHZ.

Id take the higher of the two readings. Amd temperature probes are known for reading below what they should. My idle temps are usually 10~15c below my room temperature.

Some theorize that the probe is reporting the temperature above ambient. So if the probe reads 40 and the room temperature or case temperature is 20~30, your processor is likely around 60-70C.

No one really knows.
