RAM Compatibility

Hi everyone,

I am planning to update from 16GB to 32GB RAM. I have consulted the QVL for my motherboard (ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-Plus) to determine which RAM I should buy. I am looking to go for 3600 MHz sticks, as I have heard that Ryzen processors (I have a Ryzen 5 3600) prefer higher speeds, and would ideally like to to get something recommended by the manufacturer.

 

My question is - just how strict is the QVL? The exact sticks I want to buy have this manufacturer code:

CMW32GX4M2Z3600C18

 

This exact code is not on the QVL, but sticks rated at a lower speed and latency are:
CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16

 

Does this mean the first set (not on the QVL) will not be compatible/will not work properly with my system? There are not many 32GB sticks on the QVL - I hope compatibility isn't that restrictive!

Not 100% sure what you are asking, but as long as all of your sticks are the same speed and latency it should work find but its best for them to all be the same brand. Basically any reputable brand's ddr4 3600 ram will work completely fine.

I was basically asking if there would be any problem using sticks that are not on the QVL for my motherboard.

The sticks that you showed should work for your system
