CPU RMA ETA?

So, happened to be such an idiot that I fried my cpu with the voltage I set it at, a 2700X that i decided was a good idea to push to 1.45V.

I still managed to thankfully get an RMA from amd, and my processor was shipped out. Should be arriving in their factory by the end of tomorrow.

So assuming AMD has it starting at the end of the day, tomorrow, when should I expect it on my doorstep? I've heard answers as long as 3-4 weeks and as short as 3 days, smh...

I think it really depends on your location.

Personally, I'm waiting for an AMD refund on a 5800x that they received back on 3/3/21 but have not refunded me yet.

They have an escalated ticket and promise to refund me by the 17th.

This experience has mostly convinced me never to buy an AMD product from them, or to deal with their RMA (I believe it is also through digital river) ever again.

My 1600 went as high as 1.45 to try to get 4ghz stable, but no dice.

I had to hit 1.45v to get the 1700 to post up to 4.4ghz but it wasnt stable to bench - unless the OP left it ON (as in, lower clock speed it iwll still be stable with excessive voltage) for a long time then I would assume yeah it would fry.

Who knows - if it ships out of the same warehouse as their store, which is in MN, then it might be faster? I'm in California.

Well - that's true, but I was just hoping that someone here could give me a minimum and maximum wait time. Not at all used to this lengthy process and I've been managing on a laptop that burns my fingers running bluestacks -

Would depend more on the carrier, in my case it was FedEx which was terrible. I ordered the 5800x on February 11, it shipped out on the 12th, and I didn't get it (to refuse) until the 23rd.

Oh god - I got fedex 😞. However, my ETA's still tomorrow so I'm hopeful, given that AMD also paid for the shipping. I know the shipping really is variable, so I'm not trying to demand answers for that - but in the factory - you got a guess as to how long it would take to fix the CPU, shipping aside for second?

Oh my ETA also shifted twice. Incidentally, always on the day of delivery it got delayed to the next day.

I share your pain. But as I was saying earlier - you seem to be experienced here - what do you think about the time it'd take solely for them to replace/repair the CPU - forget fedex and their bs.

No idea, like I said mine was an AMD Store purchase experience.

On a side note, I also have a RAM kit from Newegg shipped via UPS Smartpost that got handed off to my local USPS. It was supposed to be here by the 12th. Last update was they gave it to the USPS. Remind me what day it is again?

Ha - the 16th, Tuesday. I also assume AMD gave some higher priority shipping to me which give me more speed than you - I have no clue though as FedEx refuses to specify and only claims it'll arrive by tomorrow.

I am really surprised 1.45v killed it.. are you sure it was that?

If I set say 1.375 on my CCX voltage, but forget to adjust the override, It will feed 1.6v lol.

To be fair, my shipping was during the storm. So

AMD gave the OK, so something must have been up. Before AGESA updates my XT would routinely see 1.5-1.525v without any input from me. Such savagery.

But.. you were actually feeding 1.6v, that is awesome. I do that to my X5690 when I want it to die. Of course it doesn't it just reboots 😤

Yeah about there. Chip walled at 4500mhz. Extra voltage, chip won't scale.

Needs even colder than I applied. Probably -50c or colder and they'll jump the frequency wall.
