Hello this is my current pc

and am thinking of upgrading to a new cpu as that is what is kepping my pc back

And this is is the one im thinking of getting

Nope - LGA1150 supports 4th and 5th gen CPUs (there weren't many 5th gen ones).

Intel transitioned to LGA1151v1 with 6th and 7th gen (Z170 and Z270), then LGA1151v2 with 8th and 9th gen (Z370 and Z390).

6000 through 9000 series are 1151 but 6000 and 7000 are 1151v1 and 8000 and 9000 series are 1151v2 requiring different boards among those even.

v1 - 100 and 200 series motherboard chipsets

v2 - 300 series chipset boards.
