Sleeving your cables is a good thing (in my eyes), it makes your rig stand out from other rigs. Personally, I think you should always sleeve your cables, especially if you're doing a high end build; sure, it can have all the bells and whistles, but if it looks like crap, I'm not that interested. For me, it's always aesthetics > performance (though, creating a nice balance between the two) - I don't mind spending more if it would make rig much nicer, even if there is a zero to minimal performance gain. I think any rig you build, you should try and improve the aesthetics, a few minor mods such as blanking panels and sleeving can really make your build stand out from Bob's rig who has chosen near enough the same components, but didn't invest any time into aesthetics. If you are on a stricter budget, and cannot afford sleeving without downgrading components, then I would say go for performance first, then focus on the aesthetics when you get some more cash.

Just my opinion. :)

Exactly what Spite said. But also remember that sleeving takes a long time to do it well. If you don't have much time you can always get sleeved cable extensions. They're a bit more expensive than doing it yourself but they are usually good quality and you don't have to spend any time making them.

I think having your own color scheme is way cooler than buying extensions, i really like sleeving. Building your own cables, right length and connector count, is fun too and it looks super clean.

Stuff like this: i build this for my homeserver, i mean nobody will see it ever. Only improvment may be better airflow und fun! :D

sleeved cables offer no performance value or gain. it is just a vanity issue that

someone actually cares how their rig looks with the side panel off or through a window.

if they took the time to do-it-themselves or bought them shows attention to detail

and shows their intensions just by seeing the small attention to a small detail.

I,m sleeving my cables aswell, my family thinks im dumb but everyone ive talked to on the forum said they thought it was cool. for me its not only you wanting the build to look nice but it shows you take pride in your build and you are truley invested in it. it shows dedication.

I thinking sleeving makes any build look great  :D
For me tho i tend to go @ random from performance to aesthetics

Been building my build for maybe 6 months adding things as i go
recently added a psu went white paid maybe 140 so roughly 50 bucks more just in wanted it white to make build look better

did i need to get a new psu or did it add performance... i don't think it did was purely for looks

I will be doing cable sleeving as well once i get to that update hopefully in summer or @ end of summer

But as many have said if you enjoy doing things that make your PC look better i say go for it

All in all it is fun and if you're happy while doing keep doing it

custom cables are all about making the rig look good, if the cables are just long enough it looks super neat and clean.

I never understood the deal behind sleeved cabling until i read this thread, and compared to my own build. One of the issues i have with my Corsair TX750 v2 is that there is way too much slack between the hard drive power connectors, so they end up in a giant loop which extrudes out far enough to make putting on the side panel difficult. If they were custom cables, then the length between the connectors could be shortened and remove the "looped" excess. Too bad im lazy, id really like to put my side panel back on! As for the asthetics, im not too fond of the individual sleeving, however grouping into 2s or 4s may be alright.
