Moneysoft Payroll manager

Hi,

My Mum has a small accountancy practice and is having a problem with an application called "moneysoft payroll manager" and it's not so easy to find anything about the problem she's having so I thought I'd try here.

The problem is that whenever someone wants to open a client's payroll file the application starts "not responding" for about 1-5 minutes and obviously this time adds up.

 

The application is installed on each employees computer but the data is on the server I'm not sure why this could be causing it to be so slow since the files aren't very and in total all the data for about 120 clients is only 4-5gb.

 

This is the response I got from moneysoft (the people who make the application):

"When you are accessing the files from a remote location, as the software communicates directly with the location concerned, it is affected by any connectivity issues such as security, speed of access etc which may slow down the functionality.

Sadly, in this situation there is nothing that can be done within the software itself to speed up access, other than moving the files to your local machine to work on and moving them back to the server afterwards"

 

I'm basically looking for any suggestions of how I could try to speed the time to switch payroll files .
