USB solution for HTPC

I'm currently running my gaming PC in my living room but I've been steering clear of using a wireless mouse and keyboard i have because they are shoddy from the other side of the room at best. I want to get a powered USB hub and run a USB cable through my floor which already has a hole in it and snake it to the other side of my living under the floor boards might provide better signal cause it isn't as far away even if it's under a wooden floor.

Is there a more elegant solution and if not is there a particular usb hub that isnt hardwired that I can snake a usb port to it in my basement? All of the ones I'm seeing either take some weird standard of USB or are just a plug coming out of it.

EDIT: It would also have to have like 7 ports on it to fit all of my dongles.

Its hard to say if there's a better way of doing it without seeing your house. If you can, tuck it under the couch or something, maybe use double sided sticky tape on a side table?
