I just set up a web server VM and I plan to open up a couple e commerce websites and a business site (small sites, nothing fancy). I already have one up and running but I'm concerned that securing my server isn't worth the time and hassle as much as just paying for a web hosting service. I SSL certified my site already.

I'm here to get some advise because I'm stuck on deciding to either paying for a web hosting service or hosting and securing the server myself. Personally, I would much rather love to host and secure the server myself. My ISP does not block ports 80/443

There are only a couple devices I need to secure on my local network from the web server. Including an NVR which is also accessible through the internet via open ports.

So I'm deciding on what negate hardware to buy or just stop everything and pay for a hosting service.

Any resources would be helpful as well if anyone would suggest self hosting/securing
