I am using the Logitech M570 trackball but it has a ton of issues.  So I'm sure many of you are familiar with this trackball mouse. Now when i first got this mouse a while back, it took a while to get used to as oppose to a regular mouse. Also because i have 2 monitors and move my mouse a lot, the trackball is much easier to use then the regular wireless mouse.

This is I believe my 3rd logitech m570 trackball mouse. The first one a while back i used it for maybe 5 months or so, it had issues clicking. Where the left click or right click didn't work and basically impossible to use. So i bought the same mouse off amazon again. Of course, it works great at beginning, but months later... this might been more than 6 months... the same exact issue. I think it had issues earlier than that but i just kept using it. You had to click on a specific part of the left click in order for it to work... basically it was hard to use.

I will like to know... what trackball mouse would you all recommend to use that is similar to this one where it doesn't have issues every few months?

I checked amazon and saw many trackball devices like these

That Logitech MX Ergo is expensive.  Its basically l00 dollars for it.  Anyone have experience with it?  So the 575 is basically the 570 but a bit better?  What im surprised is the Logitech Trackball Marble Mouse Wired seem to have a ton of good reviews and very cheap... like 25 dollars.  But the thing is doesn't it seem like the marble right in the middle is strange compared to it on the side?  Thus with the logitech m570, you use your thumb to move the mouse... but this you need to use your index or middle finger?  That has to be awkward right?  Then again, has anyone gotten this trackball mouse first.... then got a m570 and then say... the 570 is superior?  Its strange looking at the trackball marble in the middle as oppose to the left side of the mouse.

What about the other mice?  The last two mouse... elecom and Perixx Perimice basically seem like a logitech m570 clone so to speak since they have the trackball in the same spot?

The jellybean also seem like the trackball m570 i have but do they last?  The thing is I would like to continue using the m570 as its real comfortable but i would have to buy two every year it seem.  Has anyone used this mouse and it lasted more than a year or longer?  Which trackball mouse i listed would last at least a year minimum before something goes wrong?  Also i did notice one or two of these mouse seem to be wired.  I assume almost all of you are not a fan of it?  Before i used the trackball, i had a logitech wireless mouse and would never go back to a regular wired mouse.  And ever since using the trackball m570, i just won't go back to a wireless trackball mouse.

I've used the MX Ergo, along with other family members, and none of us have had any complaints. We have used Logitech M570 for years, and have had one failure out of three so far. The Ergo is definitely more comfortable (hence the name Ergo(nomic)), and higher quality, but that may not be worth it to some.

So I have this issue everyday now.  Basically the mouse cursor barely moves.  I then earlier took out the trackball and used some cotton swabs and tried to clean the inside of it.  Did not use any liquid of any sort.  After a while, I then noticed the trackball start moving again but not as fast as normal.  I then instead of turning off my laptop, I lock it.  Then next day enter my windows ten password to unlock it.  Then when I start moving my trackball mouse, it moves fine.  But then I notice few days later and everyday after that, the trackball moves very slowly until I try to clean it with a cotton swab almost daily.  So this has to be the wireless mouse then right?  Thus it has issues?  Could it be my laptop?  I do not have a spare wired or wireless mouse to connect to my laptop now.

The next time the cursor is moving slow, try unplugging and plugging in the dongle and see if that fixes it. If it does, I think your laptop's USB ports are the culprits.

As for the clicking issues, I daily drive a M570 at work and I noticed the mouse occasionally double clicking or dropping clicks (Example, when I'm clicking and dragging, the mouse will "release" without me letting go of the button). I did some research and it was suggested to replace the stock Chinese Omron switches with the japanese equivalents. My M570 is pushing a decade at this point and since the switch replacement around 8 or so years ago and haven't had a single problem. The swap wasn't too bad. I'm not great at soldering and it was easy enough for me.

I have two usb ports on my laptop.  The logitech mouse uses one of the usb ports.  The other usb port... it has that four port usb hug where i connect external keyboard, ethernet cable etc.  So should I try connecting that logitech mouse usb into the four port hub and see what happens?

This seems to be the new logitech trackball mouse they have now... as oppose to the discontinued 750.  Anyone used this and have opinion?  It does cost a bit more than the 750.

What about this trackball mouse below?  This one is a cheaper one and its wired.  Now obviously the trackball and the left and right buttons are like switched places with the logitech m750 trackball mouse.  But would this be a good spare mouse to have?  Previously before using the trackball, I used a logitech wireless mouse that had no trackball.  The issue with it is... I normally move the mouse between two external monitors and the laptop monitor... so I did not like moving the regular wireless mouse anymore and trackball is much better.  But would this trackball mouse be fine as a spare one?  I did read one major issue with this trackball mouse is there is no scroll button to enlarge something which is something that should clearly be in a mouse.  Thoughts on that?

If I were to get another trackball mouse... would you agree get both of these?  So the first acts as my main trackball mouse and the one below as a spare?  Obviously if the second trackball mouse cost the same as logitech trackball, obviously I wouldn't get this second mouse.

My trackball also has gotten worst again with it not moving much. I then just took the trackball out and took tissue and cotton swab to clean it. Then plug it back in. I even unplugged the usb receiver and the battery for a bit as well. Then put it back in. Now... my trackball does not even move at all whatsoever? This is not a battery issue. Now the scrollwheel does work but the trackball doesn't even move on my laptop screen at all. What can i do here? Also i have an older same trackball mouse that i am using on a chromebook... that mouse had ton of clicking issues a while back so i stopped using it. But now sometimes it works. It had a button clicking issue and still does occasionally which is why I rarely use it. But the trackball moves without any issue.

I assume i could take the ball out of that other trackball mouse and put it in the current trackball mouse to see if it works? Then I could just try connecting that other mouse with its own trackball and the usb receiver to my laptop to see if it works?

This is so frustrating because everyone of these m570 trackball mouses i bought throughout the years eventually has issues.

I am a fan of track ball mice.

May suggest the Kensington Trackball Expert or Slim blade keeping in mind I have not used either.

I did use what looks very similar, the Adesso T50.

  • It had great features, high DPI, large trackball (55mm),
  • great for sim driving games (set dpi to lowest setting),
  • good setup software.
  • One very good thing the ball did NOT easily fall out, unlike the Logictech Trackman yet it was not too difficult to take out for cleaning (only downside of trackball devices).

The down side

  • the quality of the device was very cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The L/R keys were loud,
  • a screw came loose inside the device and jammed the scroll wheel,
  • the casing felt like hard, cheap plastic
  • the battery life was short (every 3wks needed new AAA batteries (expensive in Bermuda and bad for the environment) and
  • worse overall the roller bearing eroded very quickly as they were cheap plastic balls (did not help I use oil to lube them!!!)

Adesso, you came so close to the perfect device!!!

I want the Kensington Expert or Slim Blade.  The reviews I see overall are positive only found one person said each one they bought failed. So I'd like to think the Kensington who appears to have a good reputation may be a good option.  Kensington seems to lack the high DPI setting like the Adesso as Kensington seems for Tech Drawing Industry focused.

Hope this helps.
