After some searching it appears that G-SYNC compatibility is limited to 20 series cards and above. Although open to any suggestions as to how to get G-SYNC to work with 1080ti &  LG CX.

This seems that this potentially is just a driver issue. Has Nvidia deliberatley done this. With all the supply issues and starting the resale of 10 series cards it would make sense that they would fix this.

Any ideas guys?

G-Sync is 10 series and above.  Did you turn on the feature on the monitor?  Need to enable FreeSync or G-Sync depending on which monitor you have for the G-Sync option to be useable in the Nvidia control panel.

OP is talking about LG OLED G-Sync support, which is limited to RTX 20xx series or GTX 16xx series cards.

I believe it's an HDMI port version issue, which is why it's only available on the 20xx and 16xx series cards. I'm not aware of a work-around to enable it for older cards.

Thanks guys for confirming my suspicions. I wasn’t aware of any hardware limitations of the 1080ti. Given that g-sync functions on older GPU’s and doesn’t require a HDMI 2.1 port I didn’t feel they were mutually exclusive. G-sync has been available since maxwell architecture GTX 960 and beyond. It doesn’t make sense other than initial Nvidia greed why this feature would be excluded on some TV’s. Or maybe it’s just too small a market to cater to.
