840 EVO hardware accelerated encryption

Hey guys,

I have recently bought a samsung 840 EVO 120Gb drive for my ASUS n56jr (does not have TPM) and i am trying to enable hardware accelerated bitlocker encryption on it. it is not working.

I downloadaed samsung magician and enabled encrypted drive(it says enabled) but bitlocker still want to do software encryption. My windows installation is uefi.

Can anyone help?

I've been wrestling with the exact same issue myself, Gigi. I recently bought an ASUS N550JK and upgraded with a Samsung 840 EVO SSD hoping to use Bitlocker to manage the hardware encryption. I've tried just about everything except for a PSID revert, which I am not inclined to try just yet. Nothing has worked.

Interestingly enough, I've found that if you partition the SSD, you CAN use hardware accelerated Bitlocker on the non-OS partition as a fixed disk drive. I have confirmed this with the manage-bde command line tool. When you log into your Windows account, a popup will ask you for a Bitlocker password to mount the data drive. Depending on your data and hardware setup, this may provide a, though somewhat inadequate, solution.

Let me know if you've fixed your issue by now and maybe we can swap info. I can't find anyone anywhere who has fixed this specific issue.
