hello everyone, recently i started experiencing random restarts from my computer, even while at idle or when doing something like mining with the nice hash miner

i have ruled out cpu overclocking as a cause for restarts cuz when i started mining i tinkered with the overclocking profiles to minimise noise, power consumption and temps and when a profile was unstable, the card would just reset to factory defaults and keep going without affecting the rest of the system in any way

specifications:

risen 7 2700(cooler:dark rock pro 4)

asus b450-f gaming

rx 5700xt reference

32gb of ram( 2800mhz)

(some miscellaneous storage devices)

i should also mention that the cpu is not overheating in any way,(while mining i only use the gpu so the cpu stays at 40c)

my dad thinks its a power supply issue( i have a 550w modular unit from cooler master)

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

laptop: Dell xps 9510, 3.5k OLED, i7 11800h, rtx 3050 ti, 2x16gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, 1TB main drive, 2TB add in ssd

If you are on Windows, maybe have a look on the NFO for any error that may help, check under Software Enviroment -> Windows Error Reporting

Or Go on to Event Viewer -> then Windows logs, select application and see if you have any errors being generated just before the PC reboot.

the only major errors that error reporting lists are the radeonsoftware crashes that happen from time to time because I'm constantly tinkering with the cpu's settings(for example it lists like 20 crashes yesterday from when i was trying to set up a gaming profile)

Maybe all the tinkering affected the GPU driver somehow, may be worth to remove the drivers and install again if you haven't done so already.

i did reinstall them last night

and at like 5am the whole system restarted again, waking me up so yay

There are two main reasons for a computer to restart itself - overheating and power issues. Besides that the only other thing that can cause this is a severely unstable overclock. I would start with that third option, considering that you said you are constantly tweaking your card. Try to run some benchmarks with your overclock and see if it is truly stable, as it might very well not be. Regarding the temperature, do note that the reference 5700XT had the tendency to overheat quite badly. If you are running your card to mine, while the overall temperature might seem fine, the junction temperature might not be. See this videos:
