Hello forum

My computer randomly goes to a black screen and reboots, can anyone help me why this may be happening?

P6T SE

I7 920 (stock)

H100i

6GB Corsair memory (have tried two different sets)

AMD 7970

Corsair 650 PSU

non of my hardware seems to be overheating, from what I can see, PSU is a little hot but no more than usual, I've updated drivers and changed memory, recently changed some CPU's around.

Maybe video card driver crash? What about any overclocks, have you overclocked anything?

Hello back.

I really need a bit more information, then what you have give. What are your PC Specs? When/how does it happens? Does it give you a BSoD? Is anything overclocked?

Edit: I see that you have updated the OP. Try removing as many USB devices as possible, and if you are using a USB hub, try removing that.

Also check if all the power cables are securely plugged into their socket.

You might be shocking your motherboard with your mouse or keyboard. Try booting it up without them plugged in and see if it still happens or not.

Could a bad Molex connection be shorting it out? because I just found a bad connection and have swapped it one of the pins is broken, but is only being used to power a fan.

Try unplugging the fan for a start. If the reboots continues... will see! :P

How random are we talking, during games, just sitting there browsing the web.  I would start at unplugging things like ram and re-seating them, same with video card and other removable cards if any. I would more go with even though it may not seem too hot, your power supply could be the culprit.  Try to find a way maybe to get some extra airflow to your PSU and see what effect that has, if your computer is dusty get some canned air and go spray wild on it (hold your fans in place so they don't spin while you do that).

I have taken my whole computer apart and re connected everything (with care) I have also removed and replaced the bad molex connection.

I have also done a few sweeps of memtest and all seems well.

I took the oppertunity to clean my powersupply, I have raised my case and removed the filter to allow all possible air flow.

I was watching a movie on Netflix when this recently happened seems to happen mostly when I'm not doing anything other than light browsing or Youtube (but then again I'm always on youtube * Who isn't?)

I'm connecting my computer to a different Plug socket and powerbrick adapter also using a new power lead, hopefully its not something to do with the house electrical's.
