Radeon Chill on Linux

Is Radeon chill supported on Linux? Do the open source drivers support it? If not, is it coming to Linux for the foreseeable future?

No, no, and no.聽

AMD doesn't provide any sort of GUI driver control application on Linux. Things like overclocking, undervolting, power limits and fan curves can be set with third party GUI apps like radeon-profile and corectrl but no, nothing like Adrenaline.聽

Although it looks like Radeon Chill is just a frame rate limiter?聽

If that's the case, there are 1000 different ways to cap your framerate in Linux.聽

Yeah it's kind of a framerate limiter. Idk the exact mechanics, but it's probably tied to mouse movement. Faster the mouse moves, higher the fps is allowed to shoot, up to the user set limit and when it's not moving or moving slower, fps drops to another user set lower limit.

Anything like that in Linux?

Nothing dynamic like that. You can set per-application framerate limits but nothing based on mouse movement or anything.聽
