I've recently been hosting a modded Minecraft server for myself and some of my friends. The majority of the time there are no issues. However, every once in a while my system will spontaneously crash without so much as a clue of when or why (at least on the surface). This crash comes in the form of everything acting normally until my system just randomly decides to reboot itself, that's it. There are no other apparent hints. This has only happened when I am playing on the server, and more often when there are several people on. Last night it happened twice in relatively quick succession when there were 5-6 people on including me.

This is the closest thing I can find to a clue from event viewer.

The research I've done so far hasn't turned up much. The closest I could find to a solution was from one user who replaced a supposed defective chip.

Here is my current system:

WHEA logger means bad hardware somewhere.

Enable crash dumps, and when it crashes again it should throw a BSoD and log these, which I can deconstruct and pinpoint what has gone bad.

Are you using XMP or OCing anything?

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Ok, I think I enabled crash dumps, but I'll double check. Also, no I'm not using XMP and I haven't oc'd

Good man.

Anyway, if you don't get a BSoD when the system crashes again, then you have (typically) not enough power to the system when it demands it.

....but not always the root cause

Alright the crash just happened again. The dump location is marked at %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP. Although I should note that I never got to a blue screen or anything of the like even though I disabled the automatic restart, I have a several-year-old 650W psu with some not-exactly-efficient hardware, so power failure is definitely on the radar.
