Evga 650w G2

Corsair 2x8gb 3200mhz c16

Alright so with my Rx 580 my pc simply won't post I originally thought/hoped the issue was the motherboard but after replacing it yesterday and troubleshooting it yesterday I realized it wasn't I then checked if it would post using an old gtx 645 out of my cousins old pc and it booted up straight away so I saw a post saying that I need a 800w pay but that just seems wrong as looked it up and for my setup the minimum I should need is 550w I just want to now before buying a new GPU do I need a 800w PSU or is it the graphics card before I go and waste more money on stuff I didn't need also the reason I thought the motherboard was the problem was because MSI told me it was but now I know it's the GPU or PSU maybe thank you for any help In advance

Hmm, this psu should be fine, have you tested the graphics card in your cousins pc, even if he doesn't have enough wattage, but has the connector, you should be fine, as you need to know if the gpu outputs something.

That pc's PSU doesn't have the cable for a graphics card as the gtx 645 uses motherboard pcie power

Idk if that would work, but when my brother got his 2080S, he had a psu with 1 8pin, the gpu needs 2, when he tried to power it on, it showed that he needs to plug in all of the pci-e power, that could be the same with your graphics card

Well just tried with my cousins pc and nothing I can hear it boot cycling but no picture but with out the GPU power I can't tell If it's the GPU not working at all or if it needs the power cable

Like the GPU has a red light that turns on when the pcie cable isn't plugged in so might be either

When my brother got his psu, the pc was bootlooping too, after a little bit it came to the "Press F1 to setup" screen

Idk how safe that is, but you maybe could take the pcie power from the other psu, and run it to the graphics card. Haven't tried that and idk how it would work out.

What I'm going to do is wait till my cousin gets home from work and ask if I can install my GPU in his new pc and see it that works he has 2080ti and a 1000w PSU so that will let me now for sure

Yeah, that would be the better option

Thank you for all the help mate I really appreciate you taking the time to help me

No problem, also I found a video on yt of RandomGaminginHD doing a similar thing I said, but I would just short out 2 pins on the 24pin, instead of buying the adapter.

If my cousins isn't ok with me using his new pc I will try that
