These are my sticks https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Vengeance-3000MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B07D1XJWSJ

They are currently set to 2133mhz, if I set them to 3000mhz will that be considered overclocking? Is this safe? Before I had xmp enabled and it set my ram speed to 2747mhz. My mb is a maximus x hero (wifi ac) I'm not sure about the compatibility with that board but I feel like they would be because they're one of the most popular sticks people seem to choose.

Anything over 2133MHz is technically considered 'overclocking' your RAM, but you're not going to damage it. Set the XMP to 3000MHz, and see if it runs. It should, because your RAM is advertised to work at that speed.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Should I set it to auto then or just set it to 3000?

I'm not sure which motherboard you have, but setting it to 3000MHz manually should be fine. To check if it's actually running at the correct speed in Windows, you can download CPU-Z and take a look at the 'Memory' tab. If it's working correctly, it should say 1500MHz (half of total speed) under 'DRAM Frequency'.
