Hey everyone,

I've been using my Spectre x360 13.3" i7 8th Gen laptop for about the past 3 years and I've realized even though it is a laptop, I'd like something a bit more mobile and a bit trimmed-down in the specs for my next machine. I've been looking at the Surface Go 2 and it seems to fit the bill for smaller specs and a more portable size at a 10.5" screen, but I wanted to check with you all here before I pull the trigger on the purchase. I mainly use my current set-up for browsing and working in Google Docs / Sheets, with some work in Unity for small game projects. I'm definitely not looking to do any sort of gaming on my setup (ideally, the goal of my tablet change is to have a strong break between work-time and play-time). What is your take on the Surface Go 2? Are there any competitors or upcoming tablet releases I should consider before buying this?

The Surface Go 2 probably won't make you very happy, I m afraid.

The screen will probably be too small for your liking. It's fine for curling up with Netflix or browsing, but you're going to go bonkers trying to develop games on that thing. That and having no better than a Core m3 inside might be frustrating.

I'd rather go with something closer to 12 inches and with more grunt... maybe a Surface Pro if you can swing it. I wish I could recommend an iPad Air, but obviously you won't be developing Unity games on that (not for a while, at least).
