Dear LTT community,

I have an old Lacie network drive on the LAN and we have started to get Network Busy and restoring network connections with local device already in use.  Originally I thought it might be the Lacie NAS storage device as this is about 8 years old.  However the Raid 5 is still working fine and we are about 40% capacity.

The other aspect is that we have a ridiculous slow broadband connection which averages about 2mps (0.5mbps upload) and we bundle this with two broadband lines to get around 3.5mps.  Unfortunately the connection to the local exchange is very poor.  Most of the devices connect via 100mps ethernet to a Netgear 24port switch.  I wonder if the network latency is so slow that this is affecting LAN access?

Any suggestions?

Kind regards

Paul
