Hey guys !

I finally created an account to ask you guys a question! I don't know if this is the right place to put this (if not please guide me 😉).

I'm currently struggling with a problem of savegames. I've got some games that don't support cloudsave (i.e some gog games, emulators or old games) and I'm often playing them on different devices: my main pc, my laptop when I'm on the go or another pc at my parents. I'd love to be able to sync all save files of these games that way I can resume my progression wherever I am.

My current solution is to put my saves on an external drive when I know I'm going to be playing on another device and I was thinking of ditching the physical drive for a cloud base solution (such as google drive) and put them all in one folder but then an idea occured to me : what if I could automatically upload the save file from the game folder to the cloud when it had been modified ?

So to put this another way : sync all the scattered save files on my computer on one drive, that way when I use another computer it updates all the old save files present on the computer.

My problem is that I don't know how to do that (or if it's even possible). There is no way that I know of to sync specific files to the cloud (most cloud services have one dedicated folder).

edit: Just had an idea ! Maybe I could replace the savefile with symlinks to the actual save file stored in the cloud folder ?

What do you guys think ?

Thank you all for your time !
