When can we expect to see a second rendition of the m1 macs (or more specifically the mac mini)? I enjoy the current mini for the most part but the lack of support for an egpu, no 10gb or even 2.5gb Ethernet ports, and limited amounts of dongel-ablity(based on the ltt review) combined are a deal breaker for me and the reason I stopped considering the mini, but if at least the egpu and dongle problem got fixed in a new version I will probally buy a mini.

Oh yeah no internal upgrades suck too e.g. ram and storage.

The M1 Mac Mini got 10Gb Ethernet (I think).

No, they don't. You're thinking of the 2018 Mac mini.

Unless something seriously changes at Apple, I doubt you'll see that change. The RAM is part of the SoC, so that's not going to be upgradeable, and I seriously doubt they would allow for storage upgrades. That hasn't been possible on the Mac mini since 2014.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

I've never shopped for macs so I didn't know but since linus made a point to mention it in his review I assumed other macs had this "feature"

What do you mean by "feature"?

I mean most other windows pre-builts are upgradeable and 80% of laptops are upgradeable as well so its hard to call it a feature, I see it as more of a restriction.

That's been debated in the Apple community for a very long time now. Lots of people (myself included) don't like having soldered RAM and storage. I'm glad that the SSD in my 2017 MacBook Pro is not soldered.

I know this is off topic but why do you have 3 f@h systems?

The ThinkCentre M73 is the only one that's completely dedicated to F@H. The OptiPlex 990 and the Precision T3500 are doing other things as well. I also run F@H on Phobos and York (in my signature), my 2011 iMac, as well as a 2010 iMac.
