Windows Updates Fail

Statik

Hey all, I've had this issue for a little while.

Windows has the red dot marking that there's important updates that need to be done. There's a .NET Framework, Windows 10 Update to 1909, and Security Update for Adobe Flash. However when I do the required update, it  fails to update, then I have to sit there until it reverses everything. Any ideas?

Open services.msc > Turn off and stop Windows Update service > Go to system disk in File Explorer, to Windows folder and delete folder called SoftwareDistribution.

Turn the service back on by setting it to Automatic and restart the PC.

I think this is on the right track, but I'm still having issues.

Once I do all that and go to restart my PC, the only option is "Update and Restart", so it just puts me in the loop again. I also can't boot to safe mode.. I ran something in cmd to enable the "F8" on startup, but it failed, and when I go to msconfig > boot, the box at the top with my OS is blank, and I can't enable "Safe boot".

Also if I go to "Change advanced startup options", and click "restart now" under Advanced Startup, there's no way to get to the menu to safe boot, I can either shut down, or go to my bios, that's all.

Use this command

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

after the process completes, run this

sfc /scannow

Ok thanks. I just ran the first, restarted my PC, then ran the second, and it said it was good to go. Am I good to install/update windows now?

FOUND A FIX. I know this is old but I've spent like a year trying to figure this out. Store is related to the windows update service. I would get error 0x80080005 if I tried to update. If you looked at windows update in service it might be stuck on starting. I even did a clean in stall of windows probably 3 times. Windows tech support even abandoned me after the 7th time I've reach out to them. I just accidently found that REMOVING ANY 2ND SATA HDD'S fixed it. At least for me. My main OS is running on a m.2.

Interesting.

I just did a fresh install and it's been running smoothly since.

I reinstalled 3 times and still would not be able to update. Even before any apps were installed. Fresh installs didn't work.
