Help! I want to build a dedicated server for gaming

Hi,

I am after a dedicated server for gaming servers such as ARK, Rust, Minecraft, DayZ and many more. Just having difficulty understanding what parts to get as I have previously just hosted but it has become costly.

So I am looking for advice on parts best suited for running a lot of servers some of which I have listed. I do not have a price limit as I am willing to buy whatever is recommended for best performance for gaming servers.

TIA,

MrLexinator

Its really not that simple unfortunately.

You can theoretically run the servers on fairly cheap components however you then end up paying for the electricity to keep your servers running 24/7 plus you also have to have a good internet connection (mostly upload).

It'll probably work out cheaper to keep paying a host.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

All together or just a couple? Like all of these will run on pretty low end hardware on their own but all on one machine may prove a bit difficult and you will most likely have to set up a vm or 2 for ones that would interfere with eachother. Other than that totally doable.

But without your internet speed and expected player numbers (as in confirmed players and a realistic future estimate not a I will start a new server for 500 people when you have maybe 4 friends that play with you for that game).
