hello everyone,

im currently working on creating a fully intergrated external pcie dock for my laptop (non thunderbolt) but i only have one nvme slot. (i have a hp pavilion power 15 dk)

i do have a nvme ssd and still want to use it. i dont care if it only gets 2x bandwith and the dock also 2x. the dock is only gonna be used as a extra video output and as a hobbying platform for for example usb 3.

i was looking to pick up something like this msi MS-17822, but its really expensive for what it is. does anyone have a  better product (that is cheap) to do the job? or a different kind of solution? i could use the mini pcie but it only has 1x bandwith and i would need to use a usb wifi card. internal space isnt really important as i have a bay for a 2.5 inch ssd that i dont use and some space around there.

the connection to outside isnt really a problem as i could just make a hdmi port (that one the beast uses) on the side. also, is there a shorter version of that nvme to hdmi cable they use?

i was also thinking about putting a low profile thunderbolt card in the drive bay and running a short thunderbolt extension cable outside but that is also really expensive.
