Does G-Sync cause input lag?

TheJedi

Sup guys,

I turned G-Sync on to make Fallen order look smoother as I was experiencing frame tears. It worked great but I have a feeling that it is causing input lag in games like Rocket League.

My monitor is only 75hz but I can see that Rocket League reaches 500-600fps?

So is it increasing input lag?

You aren't using G-Sync. G-Sync doesn't operate when your framerate is higher than your refresh rate. V-Sync or Fast Sync is used instead, depending on which option you have selected. V-Sync does introduce latency. You should change your Vertical sync setting in the NVIDIA control panel to Fast Sync instead to eliminate it.

What monitor do you have that is 75hz and has gsync? I think having 600fps on a 75hz is less input lag than 75fps because you get a new frame every 1.67ms instead of every 13.33ms but it may cause a tearing issue

any sort of syncing can introduce some input lag.

but at higher frames, this shouldn't be an issue more so, if it's faster than your monitor. although, if both supports g-sync this shouldn't happen with more frames, as I think it already will have the newest image ready. Does your screen run at 75HZ right now? it has not been adjusted somehow?

If you do notice a change with turning any kind of sync off?
