Risers with SATA cables?

Hi, i bought a few risers and noticed they only have a SATA power intake. But im getting confused as i read people saying not to power risers with SATA.

do they mean not to use adapters from SATA to another, or never to use SATA top power risers? Because if thats the case, then the risers i got are useless.
