Hello everyone and thank you for reading this post.

Let me preface saying I am a hardware enthusiast, build all my machines and love that. On the other side, I don't really keep myself up to date with laptops, that's why I am asking this question here.

I need some advice for a Laptop I am looking to buy for a friend. He needs this laptop mostly for day trading but that means having a lot of chrome tabs open at the same time as programs and live podcasts (probably need more than 8GB RAM). I am looking to setup a desk in his house where he would like, when there, to hook up this computer to 3 27" external monitors (I assume a integrated GPU would be nice for this) and, when leaving the house for a few days, bring it with him. This means he needs it to be able to easily connect and disconnect from a docking station so he can do this with ease. He doesn't really mind if it's a little bit on the heavy side.

My budget is around 900$ for the laptop and docking station. I assume it would probably make more sense for me to look among gaming laptops because of my GPU, RAM and cooling needs (he will be using this a lot).

Thank you in advance for your input, it's very appreciated,

JohanAngel

https://www.newegg.com/gray-lenovo-flex-5-everyday-value/p/1TS-000E-0JS09 I would get this and a dock and call it a day. It has good integrated graphics that should have no problem with this use case and it has 16gb or ram. It's hard to find a laptop that has 16gb or ram for much less than 900 so this was the best I could find.

3 external monitors will need something beyond CPU's integrated graphics for sure.

I unfortunately don't have the latest information, so I will not recommend a model, but I wanted to point towards Dell's Outlet Store for good deals on refurbished (not major damage, just cosmetic ones) laptops. Of course, Dell is Dell, so take that as you may. Just follow the Twitter account for deals, you can get around 20-25% off in the Outlet store, plus 10-30, perhaps 40 % extra discount with those daily coupon codes.

Also, I don't work for Dell or anything, I was looking for XPS laptops and have come across the website and the Twitter account (alongside 1 million other followers of the account!).

Thank you for the suggestion. The budget is around 900, going a bit above it is not a problem, that's just a ballpark number. I was looking at something with a non-integrated graphics card, even one like 2060 or even as low as 1660ti, as I don;t thing integrated would run 3 external monitors smoothly. I am currently looking at this https://www.newegg.com/p/2WC-000C-03HE0?Item=9SIA7ABD161155&quicklink=true , but that seems like too much and a lot of things that I don't reallty need (32 gb are too much and other things.

If it is just an extra monitor it really doesn't need to be a dedicated graphics card especially if it you are running higher end integrated graphics like you would find with a ryzen based laptop.

That is a pretty good deal. Honestly if you want a dedicated graphics card that is a good deal and it would be hard to find one for cheaper right now.

I am planning to use 3 external 27" monitors, that's why I was saying to have an external GPU
