I would like to know what it would take to run a small Minecraft server at home? I would have a max of 4-6 players online at once. This would be an SMP server with no mods. I would wonder how I would set this up, so pocket edition players would join as I would like this to be a bedrock server. I have a core2 quad (Quad core) machine lying around and wonder if it would be powerful enough. I also would like to know what soft where I would use to make this a bedrock server. I want animals and I think Pocket mine doesn't have animals. (Correct me if I'm wrong) Just looking for some help (thanks in advance!)

It should be. Depends on what you guys are doing on the server.

I would strongly suggest you make it a Java server using Paper. Will give you the best performance and compatiblity.

For the minecraft server in your network you need the minecraft server software. If you go for java, there should be a download link on the minecraft website. For bedrpck edition I am not sure, where to get the minecraft server software. Just ask google. There are also many youtube videos about how to make a minecraft server.

Second is a software which makes your friends access your server. When running, your server can only be seen in your network. So you need some VPN software like Hamachi, so your friends can connect to your network. Or you could try to get a static IP address and make your router forward requests to your minecraft server.
