CPU with no integrated graphics issue

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Make sure you plugged in the CPU power cable, besides the 24 pin atx connector.

Debug the system by trying to power on just the  motherboard+cpu+video card + 1 stick of ram first, to make sure no other things cause the motherboard to stop booting.

If the cpu has no integrated graphics, the video connectors on the motherboard IO shield won't work. You need to connect the display to the dedicated video card.

So, my brother bought a bunch of pc parts to build his first pc, however he couldn’t put it together and asked me (I’ve already built a couple). Problem is, the cpu that he bought doesn’t have integrated graphics (i5-10400F), and for some reason I can’t get a video output over any graphics card I’ve tried on the first boot (no software installed, can’t even see bios). Any idea?

specs of his build:

i5-10400F

G.skill ripjaws16gb ddr 4 ram at 2666mhz

asus prime b460m-a

crucial 1tb m.2

cooler master mwe 550

the graphics cards I tried were:

-980 ti

-1050ti

-2060

and 2070 super

pcpartpicker says it should all work.

(motherboard also doesn’t beep on startup)

Thanks mate, that worked. Turns out I didn’t have one of the ram sticks in properly, now it’s all goods.

Hi, brother how are you doing? are you still using your b460m-a? kindly let me know what revision is it? I got an R1.02 and it has some issues, needed your help resolving it. I will really appreciate if you could help me out with it.
