Hey All,

Happy New Year!  I'm pretty comfortable on the desktop side of things but not as familiar on the laptop side.

One of my friends is starting to do consulting work with Sketchup and Autocad.  She currently uses a Macbook with 8GB that has been struggling to open up some of the larger Sketchup models she has been sent.

(MacBook Pro 13-inc, Early 2105 with 2.7Ghz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, 8GB 1867Mhz DDR3, Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536MB)

She ideally wants to keep it under $1k with a 15-17" laptop.  Just kind of browsing through some options with 16GB of RAM and a decent video card, I don't think that is a viable budget to give her something more than her Macbook can give her.  Also with Autocad she understand that she likely needs to get a PC laptop.  She's okay with that.

Any thoughts/suggestions?
