Thinner vs Thicker fan

Go to solution Solved by boggy77,

the thicker one has better performance

Hello i want to change my fan on cpu heatsink, but i was wondering between these 2 : Noctua NF-A9x14 92mm or Noctua NF-A9x25 92mm

some say thinner is better and some say thicker. So what would be better for cooling? Sound doesn't really matter until its really annoying. Thanks.

It depends on the heatsink. The thinner fan can sometimes outperform the thicker one. The thicker one is quieter though.

SFF.network has some good examples: https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/sffn-cpu-cooler-shoot-out.12047/
