Hi guys.

First of: i am from austria, so sorry if my english is bad :/

The Problem i am dealing with atm is as follows:

I've got the 3090 ~1 month ago and suddenly my PC started beeping (1 long, 3 short), but it was still running fine. (took out the speaker at some point, bc it got annoying)

~2 weeks later:

Suddenly the motherboard started to spit out 2 Errors at random: "Check CPU" and "Detect Memory". Just restarting fixed it for that day, and on the next day it would just start perfectly fine or spit out those errors.

And today is the day where i could bang my head against the wall, because the CPU is behaving weird af.

I noticed it because in Windows on the Desktop everything is slow (simple things, like opening a folder etc.) The CPU load is about 60% (so i sorted in task manager which process is sucking most of the CPU and closed those). Now its down to ~25 - 30% (btw it was iCue).

In CoD: BOCW i had like 90 FPS with my settings (4k) but now i only get like 30 - 40 FPS.

Then i reseated the CPU and RAM because of those 2 errors mentioned above. Now task manager says ~40% with and without iCue open.

I also reset the BIOS (had a 5GHz overclock), but i am still having the same problems.

And i have no idea what i should do...

Specs:

Motherboard: Asus Maximus X Formula

CPU: Intel i7 8700k (delid + liquid metal)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

Graphics Card: MSI RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio

PSU: Corsair AX1000

RAM(brand new because i thought the RAM was dead): Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (4x8) 3600MHz C18

Storage(dunno if it matters): Samsung 970 Evo 1TB & Crucial P5 2TB +10TB Seagate HDD

I hope someone can help me 😢

So according to ASUS "One long and three short beeps" from speaker:

An anomaly is detected in the graphic card. If the graphic card needs an extra power supply, please ensure the power supply can provide enough wattage.

Did you plug in all 3 connectors on the graphics card, did you use separate cables or did you daisy chain them?

Do you have another graphics card to test the system with?

It would be helpful to know that the CPU and memory are fine.

As for the CPU load, that may be some software you have running in the background. Check with Malwarebytes Antimalware to make sure you PC isn't mining for someone else. Also do a fresh install of windows, maybe on a different drive. If you can rule that one out, you can just boot the old installation again.

I have connected all 3 cables and they are all seperate cables (one cable per connector)

Now i have a 1050Ti installed, and everything is still slow, i also ran Malwarebytes Antimalware, it found 2 things (picture attached)

i am not a fan of reinstalling windows, but i will try tomorrow...

The memory should be fine as stated above its brand new. How can i verify that the CPU is still fine?

also thanks for the quick respond ;)

Try AIDA64 cpu stress testing as well as Prime95. With liquid metal there is always a certain risk involved. Did you tape the die off before applying it? A fresh install would rule out any OS related issues.

As for the power related beep, try plugging your pc into a different outlet then the rest of your stuff, like router, modem etc. Bad power delivery can cause issues with stability as well. Your temps are fine, right?

I ran both for ~5 mins and temps are ok(pics attached). I put nail polish on the surface mounted stuff on the cpu waited for it to dry and then put on the liquid metal.

The beeps are gone with 1050Ti installed. I'll try again with the 3090 installed now, takes a moment, because my case is a pain in the butt to reach the screws (900D)

Temps were also fine before, like 85 - 87°C at 5GHz and the 3090 had 72°C max
