So I want a custom liquid cooler for this ridiculous monstrosity I am building. Can I create my own? Example: Alphacool Radiator, NZXT Heatsink, Corsair fans. Does this type of mix and match mess up some sort of synergy somewhere? (electronically, with those specific pieces)

If I cannot mix and match with the heatsink or such, how could I go about building a custom one?

Also, I am looking for suggestions as to how to go about doing this and with what materials. I am going to make my computer a Gundam theme inside the case. (TT Tower 900)

Is there any suggestion as to what materials would best fit? I was thinking maybe some type of colored copper or sleeved soft tubing?

I am 1000% new at this and any feedback would be greatly appreciated

That's LITERALLY what a custom water cooling loop is...

You pick the radiator (brand, size, thickness), CPU block, fans, coolant, etc.

Yes, you can mix and match, AS LONG as you don't mix metals.

If you get an Aluminum radiator, you WILL need to use Aluminum CPU water block, etc.

Otherwise, mixing Aluminum + Copper / Nickel-plated Copper will cause Galvanic Corrosion.

In most circumstances, the water cooling parts you can buy is usually Copper or Nickel-plate Copper.

There are a couple of water-cooling 101 guides available right here on the LTT forums.

Read through these first:

EKwb offers "Starter Kits" for custom water-cooling loops.

Basically, they pick out the radiator / CPU block / tubing / fittings / pump / reservoir for you, to get skip the guess work part.

Once you get the hang of it, you can swap parts out (e.g. add another radiator, or get a different radiator altogether.... or switch out the tubing or CPU block, etc).

Not limited to EKwb, but a good example:

Thanks for that, I will watch these videos here in a sec.

What about heatsinks with computers? Will they control any fan RGB despite being different brands?

If you are talking about metal tower heatsinks...no... unless the specific heatsink uses a custom fan controller / hub.

Most AIOs ask the user to connect the fans to the hub / CPU block.

In that case, there are *some* limitations.

As for a custom water cooling loop, there is none of this proprietary / specific fan controller crap.

I've got EKwb fans on the radiator right now, but I can swap it around with some of the Corsair ML fans that I have...or go RGB crazy, to get some Lian-Li Unifans if I wanted.

RGB / ARGB fans are usually hooked up to the RGB / ARGB headers on the motherboard.

If you say...have an MSi motherboard, make sure you get RGB / ARGB fans that are compatible with the board.

If you buy say...Corsair RGB fans, they NEED to go through Corsair's iCUE software / hardware ....

Because Corsair made it so it only works with their RGB system.

For example, these RGB EKwb fans are compatible with ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSi Mystic Lighting, and AsRock PolyChrome Sync.

Same with a bunch of fans CoolerMaster offers...
